Croydon & District Obedience Dog Club Inc. is a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer-run organisation promoting responsible dog ownership using positive reinforcement methods. We are located at Silcock Reserve in Croydon, Victoria.

Please note that our club is experiencing extremely high demand and with limited exceptions is unable to offer places to new members with dogs over 12 weeks of age. Please refer to the bottom of this page for more information regarding availability for specific levels and disciplines.

BASIC OBEDIENCE CLASSES (DOGS 5 MONTHS AND OLDER)
 

Due to capacity constraints, we are unable to offer new memberships at the basic obedience level at this time. Please keep an eye on the homepage of our website for further updates.

PUPPY CLASS (DOGS AGED 12 WEEKS TO 5 MONTHS)

Due to capacity constraints, we are unable to offer new memberships at the puppy level at this time. Please keep an eye on the homepage of our website for further updates.
 
PUPPY PRE-SCHOOL (DOGS AGED 8-12 WEEKS)
Enrolments for puppy pre-school remain open to dogs under 12 weeks of age, subject to availability. Please email preschool@croydondogclub.com.au to enquire about enrolment, noting that pre-school books out 4-6 weeks in advance.
 
WHY ARE SO FEW PLACES AVAILABLE?
Our membership is consistently at capacity because:
  1. There is extreme demand for training with us. Every time we open up a class, it sells out almost instantly.
  2. Our courses are comprehensive. New puppy classes run for two months and new basic obedience classes run for three months. This means there are long periods of time before our instructors free up to take on a new class.
  3. Our current members are in it for the long run. We’ve seen fewer members cease training after completion of the basic levels, which means fewer places available to non-members. Once you’re a member with our club, you can continue on through our various levels and disciplines as long as you please.
  4. We have never stopped accepting new memberships at the pre-school level, and all our pre-school classes are completely full. These puppies then continue on into our puppy level, and then our basic obedience levels, and so forth. This too means limited availability to open up to non-members at these levels.

Puppy Pre-School (8-12 weeks)
Enrolments are open subject to availability. Please email preschool@croydondogclub.com.au to enquire.
 
Puppy School (12 weeks to 5 months)
Enrolments for new members are currently closed due to demand. Places may be made available from time to time – please monitor our home page for more information.
 
Basic Obedience (5 months and older)
Enrolments for new members are currently closed due to demand. Places may be made available from time to time – please monitor our home page for more information.

Puppy pre-school
Wednesday evenings at 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm. Please visit our Puppy Pre-School page for information regarding enrolment.
 
Puppy, Basic One and Basic Two classes
Sunday mornings at 9.30 am and 11.00 am. Please refer to your instructor’s correspondence regarding location and time. Enrolment opportunities for the Puppy and Basic One levels are only available from time to time, due to current (overwhelming) demand.
 
Advanced obedience
Sunday mornings at 9.30 am. Please refer to your instructor’s correspondence regarding location and time.
 
Obedience trialling
Sunday mornings from 9.00 am.
 
Rally
Sunday mornings from 9.30 am.
 
Agility

In-person payment

Administration asks that all payments to the office and the shop please be made using Eftpos. We can still only accept small change for the barbeque, and tea and coffee.

Unfortunately we are only infrequently able to accept new members at this time. Please continue to monitor our website and Facebook for updates. Please remember that we are a club run by volunteers and the number of classes run is based on how many volunteers we have available and the number of people who are attempting to join the club to train their dogs.
1. Who can currently train at CDODC?
We are staggering our return to training out of necessity, due to high demand. Please see below for an ongoing update. 
 
Existing members (replied to expression of interest email)
Open. Classes have been allocated and resumed. After checking your junk mail, please contact us if you were expecting a class allocation but are yet to hear from your instructor.
 
Existing members (did not reply to expression of interest email)
Closed. This includes for existing, returned members who wish to commence an additional dog at CDODC. We hope to open up to these members over the coming weeks.
 
Dual members
Open for dogs who have returned to training. Please visit Membership – Dual Members to apply for a dual membership. We note that dual membership applications cannot be received on the same day of training and ask arrangements to be made in advance of class.
 
New members
Open to puppy pre-school, closed to all other levels. We hope to open up to further new members over the coming weeks. For more information on puppy pre-school applications, please visit the Obedience – Puppy Pre-School page
2. When are classes being held?
Please see below for an ongoing update on each of our class levels. Current members should now have received an email from their instructors confirming their class allocation (except for Social, which is run more ad hoc). Please send us an email or contact us on our Facebook if you were expecting an email and have not yet received one.
 
Puppy pre-school

Members attending puppy school for the first time since puppy pre-school are reminded to please attend the office prior to class to make payment of their $20 on-ground training fee. This is the last fee you will need to pay until March 2022 when membership renewals are due.
 
Advanced obedience

Agility
Not currently running. Due to a change in circumstances, we expect that agility training will not run at CDODC for some time.

3. What else do I need to know?
COVID related requirements
When attending CDODC, please comply with all current COVID restriction requirements, such as social distancing and mask-related rules. Check-in via QR code is now mandatory for attendance at CDODC. We also ask members not to attend club if they feel unwell, and recommend dual memberships be arranged in advance of training in case of illness. Unfortunately dual memberships cannot be arranged same day and unregistered handlers will be unable to train with their dog.

We are grateful for the patience our members have shown as we have awaited the reopening of our refurbished club rooms and grounds. We are excited to welcome back members and dogs alike, and get back to doing what we love!

About Our Club
Croydon & District Obedience Dog Club Inc. is a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer-run organisation dedicated to promoting positive reinforcement training methods and responsible dog ownership while helping our members to enjoy life with their dogs.
 
In addition to teaching puppy and basic obedience classes, we train for, participate in and run a variety of canine sporting events as an affiliate of Dogs Victoria (Victorian Canine Association).
 

For the benefit of our members, our class numbers are limited to ensure handlers and dogs are given adequate levels of assistance.  Depending on the number of instructors we have available, this can mean there will be a long waiting period for class availability.
